Elizabeth Salonen

Elizabeth Salonen was born in Canada. She has been studying design in Finland and in the United States, graduating as industrial designer from Detroit College for Creative Studies. Salonen’s versatility appears in the variety of co-operation with the well-known Finnish and international trademarks: furniture, interior products, automotive industry, lights, footwear, sporting equipment, textiles and graphics. The Scandinavian effect is apparent in her form setting and in her desire to test boundaries with materials and manufacturing methods. Her production has achieved many international design awards. Salonen has worked as an independent entrepreneur since 2005. In 2012, Elizabeth Salonen was chosen as Finland’s industrial designer of the year.

Jonas Hakaniemi

Jonas Hakaniemi is a new promising designer at Kera Interior. The great Diamond hanging lights were introduced to the public in Habitare 2012 show. Hakaniemi has graduated from Lahti Design Institute as a furniture designer. He has a good 15 year experience in graphic industry and marketing media as well as of various designing projects.

Heikki Turunen

Heikki Turunen graduated as a designer in the year 1963. Turunen has worked in the capacity of the head designer for the pioneer manufacturer in the lighting field Stockmann-Orno since year 1973. Then he served in Thorn Lighting Ltd having responsibility over the product development and the visual image. Turunen’s designing activity has covered the wide field of illumination of homes and public premises. Characteristic for Turunen’s lights are the harmony of light, color and form. Also the light technic plays an important role.

Jukka Korpihete

Jukka Korpihete (born in 1976) is known as a versatile designer of a wide range of light fittings and lighting applications, of diverse types. Korpihete’s work was recognised with the Ilmari Tapiovaara Award in 2011. Also, he received the 2006 Young Designer of the Year award jointly with Mikko Paakkanen. Korpihete has received the prestigious Good Design Award of the Chicago Athenaeum, and he has won the Avotakka Design Prize.

MIKA TOLVANEN

Mika Tolvanen (born in 1975) graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1999. He designs furniture, light fittings, and consumer products for both domestic and international clients, including Fon-tanaArte, Muuto, Frag, Zanotta, E&Y, Offecct, and KFF. Tolvanen received the Bruno Mathsson Award in 2012. ‘I believe that the cornerstones of a good design are an intimate understanding of the materials and determination to improve functionality. A product can be versatile and have several functions, but for this it does not have to be complicated.’

Kristiina Lassus

Kristiina Lassus (born in 1966) is a Finnish designer who lives and works in Milan, Italy. Lassus graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki. She has worked as a design co-ordinator for Artek and held the title Design Manager at Alessi. In 2003, she established her own studio, the Kristiina Lassus Studio, in Milan. Lassus is an internationally recognised, award-winning designer. She has won several Red Dot Design Awards, along with other prestigious design prizes.
